This site was a big project as it had a lot of value for this school but had lost traffic due to algorithmic penalties (Penguin and Panda), link rot, and technical SEO issues.
Upon completion of project this University website saw a 900% increase in organic traffic.
This domain was initially quite strong, had a good brand and a lot of history but had been given up on by the University. They had worked with companies in the past that had not been able to revive the website and were feeling frustrated.
We began our growth process by performing extensive persona development, keyword research, and competitor analysis looking for gaps in the market both in terms of student intent and traffic coverage. We analyzed millions of data points to determine the most efficient course of action to maximize budget and shorten time to new enrollments.
We began by launching a variety of new content campaigns along with digital PR intended to break free of the algorithmic penalties, acquire new backlinks from authority websites in the space, and increase overall brand awareness.
Our best in class technical team also performed extensive website cleanup. Content was re-positioned to make more accessible by Googlebot and increase the semantic relevance, 1,000’s of canonical issues were resolved, 301 redirect changes had to be addressed, as well and a new internal link strategy.
As a result of these efforts the domain saw a full recovery as well as a 900% growth in total organic traffic, topping out at over 500,000 visitors a month.
